The Department
of EEE was established in the year 1984, the day, B.S. Abdur Rahman
Crescent Engineering College was established. After 18 years of
sustained growth, the department started offering one M.E. Course in
Power System Engineering from the year 2002.Since 2004, the department
of EEE has been recognized as a Research Centre by Anna University, to
offer Ph.D. and M.S. (by research).
- B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering is accredited since 1997.
- M.E. Power
System Engineering is accredited since 2008.

In line with
the college vision and mission objectives, the department has proposed
the following quality objectives.
- Include professionalism through society activities like IEEE, SEEE, IE(I), and impart knowledge in the area of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
- To augment industry-institute collaboration for activities such as in-plant training, industrial visits and sponsored research.
- To provide Placement opportunities for all the eligible graduating students of our department.
- To enhance research and consultancy activities in the department.
- To improve the quality and quantity of papers published in Internationals journals and conferences.

| AU EDUSAT Program |
Two faculty members of our Department have delivered interactive lectures for four (4) online interactive courses telecasted live by Anna University through EDUSAT Program to 33 Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu. |

The Department faculty have visited foreign countries and Research labs to present their Research findings. It includes USA, Japan, China, Singapore, UAE, Ceylon, Korea etc.
One faculty has presented a Guest Lecture at KOBE University, Japan.

- Students choose project guides on their own based on their topics of interest and specialization of faculty.
- Three periodical reviews for Phase I and Phase II of project by a Review Committee.
- Review committee comprises of four faculty approved by HOD.
- Thesis report submitted at the end of Phase I and Phase II.
- Final Evaluation of Thesis by external examiner appointed by University through oral exam.

- Each students is provided with individual computer at the Power System Simulation Lab.
- Lab facilities, internet facilities, Computer center and library is kept open beyond college hours.

- In addition to main library, a department library is also maintained by the department. This is normally used by faculty and students, frequently.
- More than 825 Books are available for reference in the Department Library.
- The final year B.E. and M.E. students use it extensively for referring previous years project details and important reference books.

| SUPPLEMENTARY PROCESS |
- IEEE student branch has been adjudged as the best student branch by IEEE H.Q., USA for the years 2004 and 2006
- Mr. J. Vijaya Ramnath of 2002-06 batch was sponsored by IEEE HQ to attend the IEEE Gold Congress held at Beijing, China.
- Third Year B.E. students and second year M.E. students are enrolled as IEEE professional student members.
- An active Entrepreneurship Development cell is assisting the young engineers of our Department.
- Personality Developmental Activities including Soft Skill Training Programme is administered to all the students of the Department through College Placement and Training Centre.
- The Centralized industry Institute Partnership cell is also helping students for their industry related activities.
- The Society of EEE(SEEE) conducts an annual National level Technical contest CYGNUS.
- SEEE organizes industrial visits, Guest Lectures, Seminars, Workshops for the betterment of students.
- An active Alumni Association is also functioning as a bridge between the passed out graduates and the existing students of the Department.
- Students are encouraged to take part in various state level, National level and International level Co-Curricular and Extra Curricular activities.

- Two of our faculty members have conducted 4 online interactive courses for Anna University through Anna University EDUSAT programme, which was beamed to all affiliated colleges.
- Well established power system simulation lab with more than 22 terminals.
- Licensed software packages like MATLAB, SIMULINK, PSPICE, MATHCAD, AUPOWER, EMTP, EUROSTAG* are available in the power system simulation lab.
